If you’re in dire need of a massage or haircut but can’t find the time to make a few calls and book yourself an appointment, worry no more as you can now get it done within split seconds. Founded by Raeesa Sya, Pawel Netreba and Sergey Gaydar, bfab.my (also know as Bfab for ‘be fabulous’) is an online portal that allows you to pamper yourself within the Klang Valley by booking your appointments online. With eight categories to choose from – hair, nail, massage, hair removal, face, makeup & eyes, spa & body (slimming, etc) – you’re in for a stress free time since you can even request the professionals to come to your doorstep. Here, Raeesa and Pawel share how they joined forces to come up with their enterprise.
FEMALE: How did you meet and how did the idea of kick-starting Bfab begin?
Raeesa: “Prior to this, I had LULU, an app which focused on booking individuals to get your hair, makeup, etc. So Bfab is an extension of that. I also used to have a design start-up where I was working on brand identity. With that experience, plus coming from a digital-marketing background, I had all the resources at my fingertips.
Pawel: “After graduating in Germany, I went home to Russia and worked as a consultant, and later moved to Malaysia to manage Foodpanda. I wanted to start something on my own, then I was introduced to Raeesa and shared my ideas, so we decided to give it a shot. that’s how it all began. ”
F: What are the main goals you want to achieve from this business?
R: Firstly, transparency, whereby we want customers to have a choice of services they can choose from and discover, where they can compare prices and find out what is available near them. Secondly we want to be able to offer customers good service. our team has been to the 350 salons that are listed and we have checked to see if what they are offering is up to par. In this case, even customer are able to share reviews and recommend services. Customers are able to ‘trust’ the services offered.”
P: “Thirdly, is all about convenience. We want customers to be able to book services even at 2 am. So if you have a meeting at 11 am and you suddenly remember your nails need to be done, you don’t have to wait till the next morning to book your appointment. You can do it anytime anywhere.”
F: Since its a relatively new idea here, how did you manage to get investors for your business?
R: “We actually got lucky because our investors believed in us and understood our plan and vision. The only challenged we faced when we started was in terms of hiring people. We weren’t eligible for certain grants but to us, yes, it’s nice to have funding if you don’t have it, we will find another way. Today, we have 16 staff, a customer care team, developers, a marketing team and a sales team. It’s a proper company, all in less than a year.”
Tried and tested
“A massage is what I needed the most after a long day of work. Got on Bfab and I didnt even need to sign in. I just clicked on ‘massage’ and chose the salon nearest to my office. Then I booked the next available slotin the evening and clicked ‘checkout’. Of course, I had to fill in my details (name, email and phone number) and voila, I was done!” – Vasenta
Out on The Star Metro Newspaper yesterday. Thank you Microsoft Malaysia #surfacesessions I truly enjoyed the surface pro 4. It’s lightweight and fast. I find the one note program and surface pen to be amazing. It could carry full version of Adobe too. So if you work on Ai or PSD shouldn’t be a problem. If you guys are interested, you can find out more here or ask me https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-my/buy
